Joe MurrayJoe Murray is a native of Queens County, New York, who served as a New York City Police Officer (1987-2002) before retiring to further his education and pursue a second career as an attorney. As a retired NYPD police officer, Joe excelled as a solo practitioner focusing primarily on criminal defense and civil and administrative litigation. In 2019, Joe Murray ran for Queens County District Attorney as the “Law and Order” candidate, focusing on public safety and quality of life enforcement. Had he won, he would have also utilized that position to advance animal issues and draw attention to their status as true vulnerable victims. Joe became enlightened to the plight of animals when he met renowned animal rights attorney, Nora Constance Marino in 2017. He was horrified to learn of the abuses that occur to animals that are often disregarded by the law, because of the archaic legal status that animals are considered nothing more than property or chattel. Once Joe’s eyes were opened, they could not be closed, and he knew he had to help. Joe has since worked with Nora on several of her animal rights and animal advocacy cases, and he has also defended animal rights activists arrested and charged during protest demonstrations. Joe is honored to be a part of the LANA Law Group. |
